Using Github via Desktop or Commandline

GitHub Desktop

  1. On Windows install Github Desktop 
  2. Create a github account by following this link
  3. Create a new repository from github
  4. Click on the + sign on left hand side to add your projectGithub
  5. To update click on sync sign on right hand side to update this on Github account

GitHub Commandline

  1. Create a new repository on github but do not initiase the readme, licence or gitignore files.
  2. Goto the directory where to add to github
  3. Open a command prompt
  4. Change the working directory to your local project
  5. Type the following commands
    • git init
    • git add .
    • git commit -m ‘First commit’
    • git remote add origin remoteRepositoryURL
    • git push origin master
